Currently I am a junior in high school so some of my information is subject to change. In the near future I would like to apply to San Jose State University, CSU East Bay, UC Berkeley, UC Los Angeles, U of Southern California, Fordham University, Columbia University in NYC, NYU, SUNY Stony Brook, and possibly Cornell or Brown. I would like to major in Journalism and Communications and or Business and minor in gender and ethnic studies or psychology (if it is feasible) Anything along those lines.

GPA: u/w-3.65 w-3.8 (will most likely improve to around u/w 3.7~3.8)
ACT: 33 (I prefer the ACT)
Class ranking: top 12-15% (out of approx. 600)
Community service hours: 130-160

*I have taken mostly accelerated classes besides the AP and Honors classes. So far I have taken one AP and two Honors. In May I will take the AP Spanish exam and if I pass, it will count for a second AP. In my senior year I plan on taking at least one or two more APs and one more Honors class. So all together I will have had 3 Honors classes and 3 or 4 APs.

I plan of getting a graduate degree and or attending law school after four years of college.

Your GPA is low for UCLA and Berkeley but your activities are fantastic so they are a maybe. But you are good for the rest of the California schools.
You have a wonderful background, but your possible majors except for business are practically useless unless you will be getting graduate degrees. Please look into what job opportunities are out there before you lock into a major. Good luck you have a great resume!

I was thinking about e-mailing my instrumental teacher about it. what do you think?

You might as well ask. I’m not really into it anymore, but I suggest arguing your case by explaining that the concept of the song (and in fact album) is *definitely* about having the will to carry on living, as opposed to the virtual suicide pact reputation it suffered. All it would take for your teacher is a negative perception of the song’s message to make the answer a firm "no".
