Halloween Costume Ideas for Marching Band Kid?

I’m in marching band, and we have this contest every year. It’s gotta be quick and easy. We have a space theme this year, so I would like something with stars, star trek, space, or band humor (like one kid was his dot for halloween last year-all black clothes)

Hmmm… if you want to stick with a space theme, you could all be different planets. I can’t really think of anything else though. My school’s band does something similar, and there’s been lots of different costumes. Each section dresses as something different. One section dressed up as M&M’s. The trombones dressed up as characters from Winnie the Pooh. 2 years ago, the drum line dressed up as Hooter’s girls. Everyone thought their it was hilarious, but they kind of got in trouble for that…

How to look girly in a marching band uniform?

We wear thick jackets, pants, and black shoes. So the only part of my body showing is the neck up. We only have to wear hats for pregame and the halftime show; during the actual game, hats can be off. There’s a guy in band that I’m reaaaally trying to impress. Our first game is tomorrow, so I need ideas fast! Help?

You’re in a marching uniform, and so is he. When you’re in uniform, it’s not really the best time to be trying to impress a guy. Personality will go a lot farther in that situation than how your hair looks, trust me.

When I was a young girl my father took me into the city to see a marching band. Where did your father take you?

He said, "Daughter, when you grow up, would you be the savior of the broken, the beaten and the dammed?" He said, "Will you defeat them, your daemons, and all the non-believers, the plans that they have made? Because one day I’ll leave you a phantom to lead you in the summer to join the black parade."

…I still don’t know what he meant, but oh, well.

My dad would take us five kids fishing, and once a year to a state park for some picnicking. When I lived with my father, that state park was an hour away. Now, having moved further north than from where I was raised, that same state park is only 10 minutes away. It’s a beautiful place, and being there always brings back happy memories. My own children and I visit often.

When I was only 5 or 6 years old, my dad and Uncle Bernard took us kids for a walk in the woods at this same park. We came upon a beaver pond, and my dad found a piece of wood that a beaver had chewed. He gave this piece of wood to me, and 30+ years later, it is still in my possession.

We also owned a farm which we rented to others, and this farm was located several miles from our home. The farmers who rented this land planted corn, wheat and oats. In the spring, after they had plowed the fields, my father and I would hunt for arrow heads. We never found more than a few, but this was always a lot of fun.

There was a small shanty at this farm, and it was not unusual for my family and several neighbors to spend weekends here. The adults would sleep in the shanty while we kids slept in the pickup trucks. There was no running water except for a stream, and all of us used an outhouse. I’ll never forget the day when a neighbor man who was chopping wood at the shanty buried an ax in his leg. My dad rushed him to the hospital while we kids stood around grossed out.

We played softball at the shanty, took long hikes, had bonfires where we roasted hot dogs, made mud-baked potatoes, and enjoyed roasting ears .. as well as some precious memories.

What’s that one music video with the guy walking through a town rappin’ and a marching band follows him?

It starts out with the skinny black guy walking down some train tracks and pretty soon a marching band starts following him with the girls in the leotards doing tricks with those sticks and then stuff catches on fire and explodes and he’s still walkin down the street rappin and the marching band is still following him.
